The IIF Child Sponsorship Programme is offered with the help of donations that our partners all over the world generously entrust us with.
The school year in Uganda runs from February to early December and comprises three terms (semesters). Each term runs for about two and a half months.
Funds are provided for the families in most need at the beginning of the school term and are paid directly to the schools which the children attend. Funding is according to the different education levels the children are at. These are:
- Primary Level (6yrs to 14yrs)
- Secondary Level (14yrs to 20yrs)
- Vocational Skills Level
However, there are situations where a child who is 17 years old is still at the primary level. This is due to factors like dropping out of school because of financial difficulty, or poor academic performance because of a poor learning environment.
IIF is a grassroots NGO with the advantage that donations to the education sponsorship programme are used directly to send children to school. Administration costs are kept to a minimum.
